Newsletter Analysis

Order Description
1. Select two contrasting newsletters. Newsletters should be from different industries, fields, genres etc.
2. Print out a hardcopy of each newsletter (black and white).
3. Write a two page compare and contrast document that answers the following questions for each:
Who is the audience for each? Add detail about demographics and psychographics.
What is the purpose of each? And, does the publication seem appropriate for its purpose? Would you change anything?
How do the writing styles and formatting differ? What trends or distinct elements of the writing do you see?
Evaluate and describe how content is selected, in other words, how does the author choose the stories?
Suggest a story idea to include in the next issue, what would you write about if you were in charge? (headline and two-three sentence synopsis) Look to current events for ideas.
